Ward’s Island

This pedestrian bridge spans the Harlem River connecting Manhattan and Ward’s Island. The first bridge to the island dates from the early 19th century, though this bridge was built in the early 1950s. Its huge frame captured my imagination. Starkly outlined against the sky and developed in high contrast, the image of this otherwise simple bridge makes for a dramatic picture.
